Enjoy. Value. Protect.
Wild Alabama works to protect, promote, and educate about Alabama’s National Forests and The Wilderness areas within them, Sipsey, Cheaha, and Dugger Mountain.
We are Protecting Forests for Life!
Our Helping Hands program has been around over a decade and has engaged countless individuals with their public lands in sound stewardship and care of wild places. We can arrange special projects for youth groups, scout groups, home school groups or individuals paired with small groups.
Work projects include:
Non Native Invasive Species (NNIS) removal
Trail maintenance
Crosscut sawing (we coach and train under National Forest standards)
Campsite rehabilitation
Glade restoration
There is no experience required for any of our work. We will coach and train and provide all tools necessary for the job. We generally ask for workers to bring their own gloves, water and food. We do the rest! In the time of COVID-19, we are adhering to a strict sanitation regimen for tools and equipment.
Currently we are working in small groups and a work project can be coordinated by contacting Kim Waites. wildalabama20@gmail.com
